Wola Asase is Deputy Director and Head of Syndications at the Africa Finance Corporation (AFC), where he leads the Corporation’s global capitalmobilisation and syndications platform. Since joining AFC in 2017, he has built the franchise from inception, mobilising more than US$8.5 billion and partnering with over 110 international financial institutions.
He brings more than two decades of experience in global syndications, structured finance, and capital markets across emerging economies. At AFC, he has pioneered innovative risktransfer and capitaloptimisation structures, including the Corporation’s unfunded riskparticipation framework, portfolioinsurance securitisation programme, and a range of creditenhancement and bondmobilisation initiatives.
Before AFC, Wola spent over a decade at the International Finance Corporation (IFC), where he led syndications across Africa and mobilised more than US$2.6 billion in thirdparty capital. He began his career in investment banking at UBS in New York.
He holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and has completed executive leadership studies at Harvard Business School
