Trudi Makhaya serves as Executive for Business Development in the Chief Operating Officer’s office at Standard Bank Group and is a Partner at Boston Consulting Group, working across the Energy and Climate & Sustainability practice areas.
She previously served as Economic Advisor to President Cyril Ramaphosa and as South Africa’s G20 Sherpa. Before entering government, she founded Makhaya Advisory, a boutique economic and competition policy firm, and held leadership roles at the Competition Commission of South Africa, as well as positions at Deloitte South Africa, Genesis Analytics, and AngloGold Ashanti.
Trudi has served on the boards of Vumelana Advisory Fund and MTN South Africa and contributes regularly to public discourse on economic policy and development through published commentary and academic research.
She holds an MBA and an MSc in Development Economics from Oxford University, where she was a Rhodes Scholar, and postgraduate and undergraduate degrees in Economics and Law from the University of the Witwatersrand.
