Thabo Makoko is Head of Transaction Banking within Corporate and Investment Banking at Standard Bank Group, bringing extensive experience across cash management, trade finance, and digital banking in Africa.

His career includes senior leadership roles such as PanAfrica Head of Cash Management, Group Head of Trade and Working Capital, and Head of Online Banking, where he led the development and rollout of payments and digital financial solutions across multiple African markets.

Thabo holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) in Information Systems, an MBA from the University of Liverpool, and certification in International Cash Management (ACT). He brings deep expertise in payments innovation and digital financial infrastructure, including contributing to South Africa’s first two factor authentication solution in the banking sector and the delivery of mobile payment capabilities.
