Sola Adegbesan is the Head, Client, Africa Regions, Global Markets, Corporate & Investment Banking, Standard Bank Group, overseeing client teams across 19 African countries as well as in London and New York. He brings extensive experience in accounting, banking, and financial markets, built across Africa and major global financial centres.

A Nigerian national, he holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and is a Fellow Chartered Accountant. Sola began his career in auditing and tax advisory before moving into banking with GT Bank, followed by trading and sales roles with Standard Chartered in Dubai and Lagos, and later leading Derivatives and Structured Products Sales for Citibank Nigeria. Since joining Standard Bank in 2002, he has managed the Global Markets business in Nigeria and the client franchise for West Africa.

He has served on several Standard Bank subsidiary boards, was a founding Board Member of FMDQ OTC, and is a past President of the Financial Markets Dealers Association. He currently serves as President of the South African Nigerian Business Council (SANCC).
