Cyril Mpumwire Bitanda is the Head of Trade Finance and Correspondent Banking (AFTRAF) at the African ExportImport Bank (Afreximbank), a role he has held for the past five years. He brings extensive experience across the trade finance ecosystem, spanning development finance institutions, central banking, and commercial banking.

Before joining Afreximbank, Cyril held roles at the Trade and Development Bank (TDB), the Central Bank of Uganda, and leading commercial banks including Barclays Bank, Diamond Trust Bank, and Centenary Bank. His career has focused on trade finance, correspondent banking, and supporting the growth of intraAfrican trade flows.

Cyril’s leadership reflects a deep understanding of Africa’s trade landscape and a commitment to strengthening the financial infrastructure that underpins regional integration.
