Alex Davidson is Head of Client South Africa within Global Markets at Standard Bank Group. He began his career as a commodities trader at Glencore, later working on the interest rate trading desk at the Royal Bank of Scotland in London before joining Investec Johannesburg as a currency trader.

Alex joined Standard Bank in 2006 on the Sales & Structuring Desk, was appointed Head of Sales and Structuring (Client Solutions) for Global Markets in 2016, and became Head of Client South Africa in 2021.

He is a Chartered Accountant (SA) and has completed Level III of the CFA programme.
