There is still a long way to grow investment and bridge the digital divide in digital infrastructure within the smaller African markets. We are only more recently seeing this being addressed in the bigger markets, largely in South Africa and in Kenya, with the prospect of increased investment in other East African markets, particularly in Tanzania and Uganda, in the short to medium term.

Global partnership set to increase connectivity and boost economic growth

Standard Bank acted as Financial Advisor on a deal between SA fibre infrastructure and Internet Services Provider, MetroFibre Networx, and French investment company STOA Infra & Energy, in a transaction that will increase South African businesses’ and households’ access to open fibre.

Airtel Ghana Limited, Loan Facility, USD100 million

Stanbic Bank Ghana and The Standard Bank of South Africa (Standard Bank) served as mandated lead arranger, underwriter, security agent and lender for the loan facility to Airtel Ghana Limited.
