Standard Bank amongst the world’s best Sub-custodian Banks

We have recently been awarded best sub-custodian bank by two independent publications, a solid achievement where our clients participate in rating our capabilities across our markets and our competitors. Increasingly our clients are reviewing our capabilities across a wide range of requirements to ensure they choose the right partner with whom to entrust their client assets.

Confirming our reputation, we were appointed winners in 11 of our markets in the Global Investor magazine’s Sub Custody Survey 2017 in Botswana, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa, Swaziland, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe. This bears testimony that in a survey of top-end businesses we were voted for the most across 12 service categories, including settlement, client service and relationship management.

“Being recognised in the global community again demonstrates how we are partnering with our clients to provide them with exceptional custodial services” says Charl Bruyns, Head Investor Services.

In addition, in the Global Finance magazine’s 16th annual World’s Best Sub-custodians rankings we received the accolade as regional winner for Africa and country wins in Nigeria, Namibia and Mozambique. The awards covered seven global regions and more than 80 countries, and selection criteria included customer relations, quality of service, competitive pricing and knowledge of local regulations and practices. Says Joseph D. Giarraputo, publisher and editorial director of Global Finance. “With these awards, we recognise those sub-custodians that do the best job of meeting their clients’ needs in increasingly complex markets.”

Receiving accolades by both publications is a true feather in the cap of the Investor Services team in Nigeria: ‘Winning such prestigious awards such as these reassures our clients of the high quality of service that Stanbic IBTC Bank provides to them. We as Custodians are also happy that despite the challenging environment where we operate, we still stand out amongst our peers. Our investments in people and technology have combined to make our clients continue to see us custodian of choice in our market. Being a member of the Standard Bank Group also ensures that our policies and standards of operations are world class” says Akeem Oyewale, head Investor Services Nigeria.
