Standard Bank and SBG Securities receives top honours at the 48th annual Financial Mail Ranking the Analysts awards
We are proud to announce that Standard Bank and SBG Securities were recognised as South Africa’s Top Research House across all league tables at the independent 48th annual Financial Mail Ranking the Analysts awards.
The Financial Mail Top Analyst Awards, in partnership with IRESS and the JSE, honours South Africa's leading analysts in the institutional stockbroking sector. The Financial Mail Ranking the Analysts survey evaluates analysts and firms across 40 research categories, and 49 South African institutions were assessed in 2024.
The Financial Mail’s 48th annual 'Ranking The Analysts Awards' took place recently, where the Standard Bank Group, and its subsidiary SBG Securities, again ranked first as South Africa’s ‘Top Research firm’. The survey garnered the assessments of 49 South African institutions appraising 40 research categories. Standard Bank/SBG Securities ranked 1st in 21 categories.
This year’s achievement marks the eighth year, in the past nine years, that we achieved overall 1st place, and affirms our thought leadership and depth of coverage where we infuse multidisciplinary insights in our clients’ investment processes. Our team also earned top ranked positions for equity sales, equities execution and administrative efficiency.
Standard Bank’s strong performance, among 27 competitor firms and 345 contestants, is testament to its strength of thought leadership and depth of coverage, thereby aiding our clients’ investment processes across markets. Following the review of the survey data, Standard Bank additionally ranked 1st in the following 6 research categories: General Mining, Industrial Metals, ESG, International Equities, Credit Analysis, and International Non-Equities Research.
The survey, comprising 40 specific research categories, garnered the assessments of 49 South African institutions and Standard Bank was ranked 1st in 21 categories, up from 16 in 2023.
Notably too, Tinashe Hofisi won the Young Analyst of the Year award.
The results underscore the breadth of our franchise, progress in our client service model and spirited traction among our emerging talent pool.
