Greater liberalisation, openness and reinvestment into the local economy have contributed to Uganda’s strong GDP growth over the last 15 years, averaging around 6.6%. The country’s open regulatory regime is supporting a business-friendly environment for local and foreign firms.

Sector expertise in Uganda

In Uganda, we have extensive experience in oil and gas, linking clients to local and international players, and supporting growth in the industry. We are also deeply involved in power and infrastructure projects. As a major player in agriculture, we support client requirements for soft commodities such as coffee, tea and cotton. With penetration still low in financial services and telecommunications (especially in data), these sectors still offer great opportunity for growth.

Tourism in Uganda is an important growth sector along with consumer spending. Stanbic Bank provides private equity research into the retail environment for our clients to support their business decisions in this area.

Our sector specialists provide insights into the conditions and challenges faced on-the-ground by our clients. We develop working solutions by understanding all players in the sector value chain, and coordinate and execute our clients’ financing and banking requirements within and across continents. Moreover, we leverage the expertise of sector experts and product specialists at a group level to develop working solutions for our clients.
