Independent awards validate Standard Bank as a leading African partner in financial services

Standard Bank knows Africa. We are leaders in providing local and cross-border financial services that are structured around the needs of our domestic and multinational clients.

Standard Bank knows that our role as a trusted partner is premised on the reliability of the services we deliver to our clients, and their trust in our ability to protect and grow their assets. In this regard, we were pleased to be named the Safest Bank in Africa 2017 by Global Finance in its annual ranking of the World’s Safest Banks. In the country category, we were also named the Safest Banks by Country 2017 in Kenya and South Africa. These awards are based on evaluation of long-term foreign currency ratings – from Moody’s, Standard & Poor’s and Fitch – and total assets of the 500 largest banks worldwide.

Industry accolades serve to recognise our Africa-focused strategy and highlight our leading capabilities. At a Group level, our experience as a skilled emerging markets banking partner continues to be recognised, most recently in being named the Best Bank in Africa 2017 by Global Finance. At a country level, where our footprint supports the local, regional and international aspirations of our clients, Global Finance named us Best Bank 2017 in Botswana, Malawi, Mauritius, Namibia and South Africa. This was followed by winning a number of categories in emeafinance’s African Banking Awards, for Best Bank in Botswana, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe, and Best Local Bank in South Africa.

We were also named the Overall Winner in Sub-Saharan Africa and individual winner in Botswana, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe by Global Investor Survey 2017.

Standard Bank is able to deliver a full range of services. Awards reflect our commitment to serving clients with excellence through our physical network in Africa and by linking Africa to markets and investors in the rest of the world. As Africa’s largest bank by assets, Standard Bank plays a pivotal role in driving development across this continent we call home. We support the aspirations of our clients in working in, for and across Africa.
