Global Investor/ISF South Africa Masterclass III conference 2017
18 May 2017 – Cape Town, South Africa
Standard Bank is co-sponsor of the third South Africa Securities Finance Masterclass, which brings together participants in the securities lending chain. The theme for this years’ conference is ‘Adapting to an evolving environment - leave, keep the status quo, or up the ante?'. Cost efficiencies and alternative routes to market are on the agenda. Hedge funds will also be in attendance to discuss prime services and we will also hear from agent lenders and asset owners.
The team from Standard Bank includes Juanita Taylor, Head of Securities Lending, who will open the conference in her capacity as Chairman of the South African Securities Lending Association (SASLA) which is hosting the event. The second keynote address will be delivered by Standard Bank Chief Economist, Goolam Ballim, who will unpack South Africa’s political and macroeconomic landscape considering the credit ratings downgrade, and the ANC’s upcoming elective conference. Francois Henrion, Co-Head Equity Financing and Collateral Optimisation, will participate in the panel discussion covering blockchain’s potential to increase the speed of settlement and security while reducing transaction costs.
Focused on asset owners, asset managers and prime brokers/agents active in the securities lending market in South Africa, the Masterclass III conference promises to be an informative and future-orientated event.
